Introduction:
Sometime during one's Nerfing career, part of a gun will spontaneously blow up or break. This, however, does not render the gun useless. Just that part.
A true nerfer knows that usually, the broken part can be repaired, using different sealants or adhesives. This article's job is to instruct you about the use and types of sealants/adhesives you can use to mend your guns.
Body:
Pictured here are all of the reliable sealants that I use.
Epoxy:
Epoxy is THE strongest sealant that is readily available. Able to create a seal of 2000 psi, it is best used in airtank or pressurized area leaks. However, it is easily fractured (by movement and such), so it is most efficiently used in immobile areas.
Use: High-pressure sealant
Hot Glue:
This is your most basic and widely-used adhesive. It creates a low-pressure seal that is good for holding things together. However, after about 5 psi, a seal made of hot glue dissentigrates.
Use: Bondage (Mmmm...kinky)
Plumber's Goop:
This is a great adhesive. It can seal high-pressure areas, though not as well as epoxy, and can bond things. It's has elasticity, more like hot glue, so it is not THAT great of a bonder.
Use: Sealant, bondage
PVC Cement:
PVC cement creates high pressure bonds on, well, PVC and CPVC, and lower-pressure ones on plastics. It can be used as a bonder on PVC, but I would not use it as a bonder on plastics.
Use: PVC/CPVC sealant, bondage.
Super Glue:
Super glue is a great bonder. Also, on tight-fitting connections, it can be used as a superb sealant. This is about the limit, however, and does not work well with loose-fitting connections or a bond under stress.
Use: Basic bonding, tight-fitting connection sealant.
Finally, there's
TAPE:
This is used to secure things to other things. Do not use it as a sealant, or a bonder. Whatever it is will most assuredly die.
Use: Securer-er
Hope you enjoy,
