High-Caliber Munitions Launcher
After I got my NIB crossbow, and modding it to the xtreme, I really wanted to do something with the arrows I had left over.
I ended up cutting them into 1" segments, melting a hole in the back, and using 10 or so BBs + a dome of hot glue on the head.
Now that I had the ammunition, I needed a gun that fired them.
Sorting through my collection of PVC, I found that 1" PVC fits the munition snugly. So I chopped off a foot, and scrounged around for some smaller diameter PVC to adapt it to 1/2" CPVC.
I ended up with that: the 1" PVC, a 1/2" PVC coupler, 1/2" PVC, 1/2" CPVC.
-Glued together-
Now that I had the barrel, I needed a gun that could fire it. That means really high PSI. The only gun I could think of were the Titan and SuperMaxx5000. Unfortunately, I had neither of those.
Then I remembered my converted super soakers. I dug them out, primed them, and fired it.
The results were superb. 100' flat. 70' accurate range.
There's a dent in my wall from 3/4 pumped.
My supersoakers.
There you have it. A gun with AP capabilities. Hope you enjoy,
Ammunition Making:
I cut off 1" of a peice of foam from a Crossbow's arrows.
(Note the roughly 1" diameter:)
I got my ten BBs.
Using the tip of my hot glue gun, I melted out a small depression in one end of the foam.
On the other end, I depressed my hot glue gun all the way into the foam to make the "hole".
I used the rim of the hot glue gun as a judge to how far out I go, and then rotated the foam around my hot glue gun.
I did a rough job:
I flipped the foam over, then put down a small layer of hot glue, and layed the BBs out in it.
Finally, I covered the BBs with a dome of hot glue, and let dry:
Just your basic dart-smithing.
